** UPDATE: January 21, 2021 9:00 PM EST **
Well, that didn't take long! I want to extend a hearty THANK YOU to the Brother that took us over the top: Nigel Telman, Imara F'83.
Nigel literally just contributed $280, which on top of the $250 he gave last week boosted his total donation to $530!! This donation lifts us $1.06 over the $5,000 Goal!
Even as more donations roll in, let's all please send him a hearty '06!! for pulling us across the goal line.
Thank you, Nigel! And sincere thanks to all the Brothers who helped make this Restricted Fund campaign a resounding success.

Brothers, the response of the call to support Alpha Chapter has been nothing short of amazing!
Through your efforts, ALF's received $2,806.00 in donations. Therefore, with your help we've fulfilled the terms of the $1,000.00 Matching Challenge well in advance of the deadline,...meaning we've raised a total of $3,806.00 toward the $5,000.00 Goal.
We are $1,194.00 away from reaching the goal. Please spread the word. Every dollar counts. If you haven't done so, please donate today.
And as always, many thanks to each and every one of you who’s contributed. You’ve set the pace and now we just need to pull across the finish line!

Brothers, We have good news!
Based on the solicitation letter recently sent seeking support for a security deposit to secure the Alpha Chapter House, two Brothers have indicated they are prepared to give a larger gift of $500 each if a match is applied to their donation.
The terms of the Matching Challenge:
The first $1,000 of all donations received by 5:00pm EST Tuesday, January 12 will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
Brothers, please take this unique opportunity to make your gift go further so we can reach our $5,000 goal for the restricted fund in support of Alpha Chapter. And we thank every brother who has donated thus far toward reaching our goal!

Fellow Brothers of Alpha Chapter,
On behalf of the Alpha Light Fund (ALF), we write to ask for your support of the Chapter that made us.
Three of our undergraduate Brothers are seeking to secure a house on Cornell’s West Campus that has served as the Alpha Chapter House for the last 4 years. The house located on 107 Llenroc Ct, Ithaca NY 14850 is the place our undergraduate Brothers have lived, strived, and held regular meetings and social events. Adjacent to Ezra Cornell’s mansion, Llenroc, it is the perfect location for them to continue to uphold the Alpha Chapter tradition.
The three-bedroom house was occupied by three Brothers who graduate this semester, and three new Brothers—Paul Agbaje, Lassan Bagayoko (Chapter Vice President), and Nnaeneka Nwankpa (Chapter Treasurer)—are willing and interested in moving into the house to keep the property as a meeting place for the fraternity. Use of this house is not only residential, but also serves as the main facility for Intake.
However, due to a lack of personal finances and an inability due to Covid-19 of Brothers to raise funds from social events on campus, these Brothers do not have the financial wherewithal to replace the security deposit that was previously paid by the graduating Brothers. The new security deposit of $2,624 is due by 1/15/2021, and these brothers have raised $248 in donations as of 1/7/2021.
At a meeting of the ALF Board on January 7, 2021, we unanimously authorized the creation of a Restricted Fund dedicated solely to supporting the operations, programs and services of Alpha Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Cornell University. Given ALF’s status as a 501c3, all donations to this restricted fund would be tax-deductible and any funds spent on Alpha Chapter would be done under the auspices of the ALF Board.
We have set a fundraising goal of at least $5,000 for the restricted fund, with the first use being a donation to Alpha Chapter that would cover any amounts needed for the security deposit. This gift would remain on the books of Alpha Chapter, and if they ever choose to vacate the location and the security deposit is refunded, the funds would return to the general account of Alpha Chapter.
We firmly believe situations like this one reflect a key reason we created ALF three years ago. Our Board is fully supportive of the effort. Therefore, we ask for your timely support to meet this critical need. Please click on the Donate button below and send a gift of any amount. Again, 100% of your tax-deductible donation will go toward support of Alpha Chapter now and in the future.
This is a very tough period for students to navigate financially and these remarkable Brothers need our help. Please give as much as you can. There are likely to be additional needs and we would like to stand ready to help.
