HOUSE of ALPHA - Restricted Fund
The House of Alpha is the physical manifestation of our vision, through which ALF delivers its programs and services. It is not only a student and program residence, but also a cultural and tourism destination that will anchor the ALF Leadership Institute by serving as a gathering place for leaders.
In collaboration with the New York State Governor’s “I Love NY” Black Travel Initiative, the House of Alpha will serve as a tourism destination that intersects Black culture, Black history, and Black historical sites, such as The Underground Railroad and The Harriet Tubman Freedom Trail.
The House of Alpha will create dozens of jobs in the local community and ALF has already contracted with four minority and women-owned businesses. Historic preservation has been prioritized in the design, and green and clean energy initiatives have been integrated into its development.
Please join us in this effort by donating generously.
NOTE: ALF can accept donations in the form of securities (e.g., stock, bonds, mutual funds, etc.). Please contact Treasurer Glenn Gregory at GlennGregory@alphalightfund.com for instructions on how to transfer your donation of securities to ALF. VISION STATEMENT - HOUSE OF ALPHA
The Alpha Light Fund, Inc. (ALF) Board considers this event the third most important occurrence in Alpha Chapter history: Our Founding, Rejuvenation, and now, the House of Alpha a residential & life skills center in Ithaca, NY near the Cornell University campus.
The purpose of the House of Alpha is to provide housing and a meeting space for community engagement, with priority given to historically under-represented racial and ethnic groups served by the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and students attending Cornell University.
HOUSING – The building is an ongoing operation, and any affiliates that support it, will be financially self-sustaining enterprises with operations that are at least cash flow neutral.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & REPRESENTATION – The house will offer residents a “sense of community” and be a readily available venue for Alpha Phi Alpha Alumni Brothers to meet and fellowship. The house will also reflect the history, legacy and story of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Chapter to residents and visitors.
LEGACY – The House will be well-maintained, and support current and leading-edge technology platforms ideally suited for student housing and learning. The structure, operations, and sustainability of the house will support existence for 100+ years.
The House of Alpha is both a residence and a leadership institute that will foster an environment of progress that moves America toward an equitable society. It is a cultural destination site: a place to develop Black and brown leaders, promote collaboration among allied organizations, and highlight academic excellence, while providing access to opportunities, uplift, and advocacy for youth and adults through programming, information, and services.
